Feedback Aftermath: Tom Stoker (drums) Oliver Duffy (guitar/vocals) Reuben Waring (bass/vocals).

When did the band first begin and what made you decide to start a band?

Oliver Duffy (Guitar/Vocals): We started in August 2013 when we got together to jam some songs as a summer fuckabout and I happened to write a song on the morning of the day we got together so we decided to just do a band.
Reuben Waring (Bass): Busted. Busted did it.
Oliver Duffy: Busted did do it.
Tom Stoker (Drums): Fun.

How would you describe the sound of the band?

Oliver Duffy: Alternative Noise Rock.
Reuben Waring: Baroque and Roll
Tom Stoker: Noise!!

How did you choose the band name?

OD: I was in New York in 2013 and we were looking for a band name and I saw a super avant-garde modern art piece which was literally just slashy lines on a canvas and it was called "Feedback Aftermath" and I was like "Right, I'm stealing that!"
TS: That is correct.

(C)F.A.

What influences do the band members have musically and what other bands do the members like listening to?

OD: Death From Above 1979, Nirvana, Turbowolf, Britney Spears.
RW: Queens Of The Stone Age, JFK from Death From Above 1979's beard.
TS: Kim Kardashian.
OD: When I say Britney Spears, I'm not joking, I ripped off the rhythm of the chorus of "Gimme More" in our song "25%"

Who writes the songs, what sort of things influence them and what sort of things are they about?

OD: I write the lyrics, but musically it differs song by song, for "The Machine" Reuben wrote the main riff but I wrote the rest of the song. Lyrically, I don't really write autobiographically, because I don't have a lot to write about. I just string a bunch of cool words together.
TS: Ollie does it.
RW: It just happens.

Do you remember your first ever gig and how did it go?

RW: Swimmingly.
TS: No one died, so…
OD: It was pretty good for a first gig. We opened for a band called Roughneck Riot and they were swell.

Any memorable gigs or gig incidents?

OD: I stamped on my guitar and the headstock snapped clean off, it was at our first gig too.
RW: Every gig usually involves bleeding, pulling leads out and one time my bass pickup fell in on itself.
TS: Split knuckles.

What advice would you give to anyone wanting to start a band?

TS: Don't.
RW: Don't think you have to be super technical and musically impressive.
OD: Oh, go on then.

What do you think of the live scene particularly in Bedford at the moment?

RW: A fab place for seeing all the cool bands before they get annoyingly popular, and for allowing new bands to get shows (i.e. us).
OD: S'alright. Not as good as the Croydon prog-pop scene.
TS: Cool..

(C)B.A.M

Do the band members have any other interests, hobbies etc?

TS: Cocaine.
RW: Forging national insurance numbers.
OD: Gardening.

What sort of things really annoy you?

OD: Bands that intentionally miss your set at shows, have big egos and are just generally rude.
TS: Small children.
RW: Interviews.

What sort of feedback has the band had from live gigs so far?

OD: No one died, so…
TS: None. at all.
RW: "Oh you guys were great, I'll get you some shows!"
*no shows happen*

Are there any C.D.’s, recordings out, or in the pipeline to come?

OD: We have a double A side single out now called "The Machine // Age Old End" which we recorded at The Courtyard Studios in Oxford with Ian Davenport. Just digitally at the moment though although there are plans for CDs in the future.
TS: World tour with Super Deluxe Triple Vinyl Live Studio Boxset (and T-Shirt).
OD: We also have a demo up on soundcloud/bandcamp of our song On The Line, recorded at my house. It's not great, so listen to The Machine // Age Old End instead please and thank you.

Is there anything you would like to say to sum up the interview?

TS: Yes.
RW: No.
OD: Everything we said was bullshit.

Yes it showed! I would normally at this point, thank the band for their time but on this occasion I don’t think I’ll bother.
