Blind Theory, I Am The Door, OverEasy.
Lev 2 Esquires Bedford. Thursday 17th November 2005.
Thursday's showcase night opened it's doors tonight to welcome Luton based band OVEREASY, who are currently on their self-publicised 'Dirty Up A Tone Tour' which, amongst over venues, takes in a gig at The Half Moon in Putney. With a wide range of influences - The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Oasis - OverEasy can be best described as a Seventies Psychedelic Funk/Rock band with hints of the modern music scene. Imagine The Red Hot Chili Peppers hiring George Clinton for a gig! Frontman Tim Stock gave an effervescent performance and was supported by Matt (guitar), Ad (keyboards), Mark (bass) and Ant (drums). 'Love Generator' was an excellent indication of things to come, as well as 'Get Yourself Together' which created all the right funky vibes!
I AM THE DOOR made their first performance here tonight, travelling all the way down from Bristol for the gig. This band came to party on stage, and although their sound is hard to define (perhaps slightly 'Emo', in a pop/rock stylee) it is certainly original. Formed in 2003, the songs 'Make Yourself Strong' and 'Does It Mean Something?' (tracks from their current E.P.) come alive spectacularly tonight. Full marks to the boys who, after a long arduous journey, gave it their all.
BLIND THEORY headlined tonight and throughout their set they are constantly dogged by technical problems. They carried on regardless in front of a manic group of 'Theory fans who gave them constant support throughout the evening. However, an awful lot of their inane chatter between songs become very boring very quickly.
