Days Of Worth, Summerfall, Scratchplate.
Lev 2 Esquires Bedford. 4th June 2005.
Tonight I can safely say I have witnessed one of the most exciting new bands to have played our venue for a long time. Disregard all the has-beens and overrated prima-donna wannabees that we have seen over the last few years. Here are a band that I genuinely hope and believe can make a huge impact on the current music scene.
Tonight was the fourth date of DAYS OF WORTH'S headline tour and they played pretty much the entirety of their stunning debut album, 'The Western Mechanism', including previous single 'Take Me Through' and forthcoming release 'State Of Me'. Plaudits must also go to the soundman Nick who did a fantastic job. The band played a 45 minute set during which lead singer Simon's vocals carried us away and how the venue walls withstood the force of Andy's drums I will never know!
The lads also came out for a short encore which was well appreciated. They also took the time to watch the two young support bands. Days of Worth - top class!
The first band of the night were 'SCRATCHPLATE', a young band from Bedford specialising in 'classic rock'. Although initially nervous, they soon settled into their stride with a mixture of their own compositions and covers.
Following them were the superb 'SUMMERFALL' who, after their recent gigs at Esquires, just seem to get better and better. This is one band that can really play and who don't need to rely on stage antics.
