Enter Shakari, Saved by Zero, Mos Eisley, The Most.

Lev 2 Esquires Bedford. Thursday 4th August 2005.

Esquires was one of the final ports of call for two of the bands playing tonight. Enter Shikari and Saved by Zero were reaching the end of a long tour and I hope their performances in other parts of the country have been as good as they were tonight.

Before these two young metal bands were unleashed on the audience, punk band THE MOST breezed through a 12 song set, only slightly hampered by the fact they were playing mainly to metalheads. This local four piece band - influenced mainly by old skool punk - seemed to go down well. The songs 'It's my Rock and Roll' and 'I want it, I need it' especially caught my ear. Vocalist David Saperia has a good stage presence and as they have already signed to Chromium Records (with a single release due shortly) the future looks good for The Most.

So to The Metal! First were SAVED BY ZERO, although the vocalist later informed me that they have changed their band name to Mos Eisley. Whatever their name, this Wirral collective oozed confidence on their Esquire debut and they played with a genuine swagger which is to be applauded when you are strangers in a far flung Southern town! To take my cue from the title of the last song of their set 'Work with the Most Excited People in the Country', lets hope we see this talented band again soon.

Headlining tonight were the young St. Albans band ENTER SHAKARI who have been hard at work in the recording studio recently. Taking their influences from such diverse acts as The Beatles to Dillinger Escape Plan they put together a sound seven song set. 'Ok, Time for Plan B' and the penultimate tune 'Anything can Happen in the Next Half-Hour' were ample proof that this is a band worth keeping an eye out for!
