Red Dollar, Phonic Rapture, First Born.

Esquires Bedford Lev 2 12th May 2006.

Popular local Pop-Punkster RED DOLLAR headline tonight with their toughened rock veneer.

Although vocalist Don reflects after the gig that his voice and body was feeling rough and listless, it would have taken an eagle eye to have spotted this as their performance came across well.
Don and his fellow band members walk out in identical thick military jackets, which given the sweltering temperature both inside and out was probably not the smartest choice, especially given the frenetic pace at which band play, which sees Don strike his head early on and almost knock himself out!
The powerful statement of intent that is the song 'Start the Revolution' is most definately a good introduction to more Dollars of joy tonight.

Joy or enjoyment were most certainly not words that I would choose when describing the previous band PHONIC RAPTURE. Tonight, their tired form of rock would have come decidedly second best to watching paint dry. I know the Phonic boys have previously impressed here and I note that they return in a few weeks - let's hope their performance tonight was a one-off.

Opening this evening was a rock band previously unknown to me, FIRST BORN, but they certainly leave a good first impression. With a strong line-up of songs and an articulate and forceful frontman, the band are currently poised to record the tracks 'You Will' and 'Watch As I' which are both performed tonight. Older song 'The Picture Perfect Myth' finds the band and crowd clapping together in total unison.
