Sirenide.

Lev 2 Esquires Bedford. 15th October 2005.

I was fortunate tonight to be in a the junior venue of our establishment to witness the famous 'band in the bar' slot. Although Level 2 has a mighty stage and sound system, the intimacy of Danny's Bar has that unique atmosphere where you are right at the heart of the bands performance.

Performing tonight are the Leighton Buzzard based SIRENIDE featuring Llovonne St. George (vocals), Andy Betts (lead guitar), Nikki Brightman (bass and backing vocals) and Matthew Wainer (drums). The band have been together since January and have recently been down the lodge studios in Northampton to put down a three track demo. Gigging intensively and with future appearances at Aylesbury and Nottingham to come, the outlook appears promising.

Sirenide offer a a variation on the Elastica 'punky' sounds that was compelling to watch and great listen to. 'Peroxide Blonde', 'Stagger', 'Got the Ticket' and (in their own words, a 'rock ballad') 'Euphority' were performed in a tight professional manner. It was great to see three female musicians in one band - this is something that doesn't seem to occur in the young Bedford bands and it puzzles me as to why this is so?

Hopefully we can look forward to seeing Sirenide up on Level 2 very soon.
