The Tendons, Citizen Keyne.

Esquires Bedford Lev 1. Saturday 25thth March 2006.

A double 'whammy' of old skool unsanitised raw punk is on the menu tonight. Milton Keynes' Citizen Keyne make their debut in our bar and following them is a band who have probably played in here more times than anyone else.

CITIZEN KEYNE begin with 'Lies and Chaos', which is then followed by their anti-hoodie and baseball cap ditty called 'Chavs'. This song leads to the appearance of a Bez character who proceeds to dance (in the loosest possible sense of the word) throughout the entire set. 'Door to Door' is a song dedicated to those smarmy salesmen who annoy you on your doorstep (oh, those poor 'Betterware' people). Vocalist Jon succinctly tells them 'to stick that suitcase up your arse!' At this point, Punk Bez removes his shirt and starts spinning around on the spot. Most strange!
Although Citizen Keyne claim to dislike Green Day, for some obscure reason they decide to cover 'American Idiot' at the end of their set. A very strange choice, as it is not really in keeping with the rest of their songs.

It's Saturday evening, and what could be better - a few beers, munching on a couple of bags of dry roasted nuts, waiting in anticipation of seeing Bedford's Punk legends THE TENDONS. This band are the musical equivalent of a top shelf magazine and tonight it is just about 10 O'clock when they start the fun. Everyone is a target for their rasping lyrics and Jon's ever roving eye, be it poor unfortunate Matt ('The Twat'), 'Blubber Guts' (sorry Simon), the ever dependable Mr Simms ('Johnny Don't Care') and all the beautiful girls of Bedford ('Bedford Girls'). Playing to a packed bar of all ages, it may be the same act as usual, but that is why we hold The Tendons in such great affection. Singalong Punk and all the humorous banter that they dish out - who needs happy pills when a drop of The Tendons is available?
