BEDFORD METAL BATTLE OF THE BANDS 2006.

The Bedford Athletic Rugby Club Wentworth drive, Putnoe Bedford. Friday 9th December 2006.

Dryad, Track Zero, Gain, Helminthian.

Grand Final Winner - Track Zero.

The Grand Final

Drawing straws for the running order being the most fair option, but with members of the first two bands having members not present and arriving after the allotted sound check time, DRYAD were entitled to a late line check then opened the night.
Merciful Fait like in sound, with their screamy vocals looking slightly scared this time, with a crowd not yet settled in. 'Classic Metal at its best'.

The eventual winners of the competition - TRACK ZERO, proving it doesn't matter which position you play. Here for the second year, this time taking the award. They gave us some of their most recognizable songs and made good use of the stage floor and off - starting mosh pits by jumping off stage and in to the people up front.

Well executed great sounds fromGAIN up next, more reliant on sound than any visual performance but always going down well with fans and new crowds in front of them, they always get a good crowd response at The Ath. Their favorite venue.

Just a quick break to present the lovely door lady Pam with some flowers, as a thank you for her smiley welcome to all you visitors on the door, Pam will be stepping down from her duties in the new year. I'm sure we would all like to thank her for her help at Bedford metal nights.

Their most outstanding musician/guitarist away between gigs still able to pull it all together with HELMINTHIAN while their other members had practiced with out him, realizing, the prestige and importance of this gig opportunity put a cap on their usual messing on stage and seriously concentrated on putting on a show. The drumming was as useless as ever but the rest of the band made up for it. 'Only Joking!' he's probably getting bored of the compliments by now.

The Final of the Air Guitar competition next with Fiona and Danny who got the most peoples vote which was judged by lining up in front of the entrant and the longest line wins - (an iPod as it turns out).

Well done Danny, and of course Track Zero for winning and all the bands who won something for getting to this final round.
I'm now so worn out by all these weeks of putting on gigs that I'm going to sleep until my name changes to Rip Van Keith!! - Bless everyone for all who came, took part and their support with putting these gigs on.
