Well I've never done a review before so please excuse the diary like style! Anyways I arrived at the club at about 6:30 with my Dad blaring out his folk music and began to unpack the stuff. Once that was done I looked for the nearest place to buy a coke but before that I was intercepted by Don ( Bassist for Loose Thread ) and Dave ( Guitar / Vocals for Loose Thread ) who introduced themselves. They seemed to be really crazy guys who were really looking forward to putting on a great show. As we were chatting the bassist of sphere made his move and joined in our convo'. I could see this was going to be a great gig and once again, Keith had made us the youngest band there so we would have to as usual play our socks off to put on a great show. Well sound checks are always a good indication of what you're in for and all the bands playing alongside us seemed to be very technical! While Capo Jnr. were sound checking for instance I realised that one of the guitarist had something like 7 different pedals. Anyways so I don't come across as a vain kind of dude I will let Keith tell you about Attika

Attika

O.k. I've known these guys for what seems like a while now and am always impressed with their dedication towards their band. Their C.D. reviewed on this site was pretty impressive as well. These are the guys that play and practice in their attic - possibly hence their bands name and get some band - practice in by often turning up for a regular gig slot at the Hat Factory venue in their home town in the Luton area. I've seen these guys on a big stage gig in Leagrave in addition to their recent (Danny's Bar Showcase Gig) -
so know quite well their abilities.
Influenced by Pink Floyd and Metallica, they have a multi-ranged sound between metal, grunge, rock and blues, which they demonstrated well here tonight, not just the style of songs but the vocals vary well also.
When you get to know a band and they announce that they are going to include a new member, you kind of hope that the person will fit in well and be as cool as these guys are, so after meeting their new guitarist who came in after a few songs as a 3-piece with out him, I'm pleased to say fits in well and is in my opinion as cool as the others.
Too much time spent on Metallica covers was one of my first thoughts about this gig, their own material is pretty amazing enough, so when they get more material, if its up to their present standard maybe the covers will be less frequent.
They have some quite well practiced thunderous drumming pinning their songs together, he has even been seen accomplishing a two-hour set with an older band recently. The bass player is probably the most eccentric of the lot with popeyed stares to the crowd like a kind of Johnny Rotten resurrect, adding growls and screams with everything put in to it. I thought they showed how varied their band can be, with their own material, suitable for the most part of the crowd, Classic rock and blues style vocals for the older people and metal covers for the younger sunny delight generation, adding to their wide appealing sound. - I'm sure they'll be back sometime!

Right I'm back! Well after Attika came Loose Thread, after a classic Keith introduction. First appearances of this band would make you think they would be a sort of Indie style but that is totally forgotten when they start playing! With A Zakk Wylde / James Hetfield look alike guitarist, with the skills of a God and a crazy head banging bassist how can you go wrong! They really did put on a great show and the songs they played were immense it was defiantly gonna be a hard act to follow for Sphere and Capo jnr. You would think about after 20min of pure head banging you would think about stopping but Loose Thread really do keep you in the mood and make you want more!
Defiantly a 10/10 band!

Well next up were Sphere. When they began to play there was a large uproar and the crowd went berserk causing what was left of a crowd to mosh! After a good 30min Keith tried kicking them off, but after them begging for one more song and the crowd chanting 'one more', Keith gave them one more. A truly awesome band which I would say if you get the chance go see them because they will surely give you a good gig!

Finally were Capo jnr, and I must say these guys really did give me chills. When they began playing all I could say was 'Holy Hell, Led Zeppelin!' These guys were crazy, with a singer who couldn't stand still, a guitarist with a beanie, an awesome drummer and another guitarist with a super expensive guitar these guys really do give you a musical experience to remember! Having not danced for about 8 years these guys really did get me on my feet!

All in all it really was a 'Kick Ass' night and I hope one day I will perform with these dudes again cause it really was a gig to remember!
