With an ever changing line up on this pigs ear to put on show, with bands pulling out during this holiday season, causing the date to nearly be scrapped. The night did finally go ahead and a couple of great bands they wer!.

Wowing gig goers in their home town of Luton AT A GLANCE seemed to take a while to get going and perhaps in need of a bit more experience, but when they were in unstoppable full pelt, were a force to be reckoned with. They seem to have what appears to be a typical Luton Sound representing their scene over there at the moment. The main singer with gruff vocals seems to hide away to the side, or sings with a back to audience stance, but blending nicely with the great sounding vocals of the singer/guitarist adding a welcome varied edge to the mix. With melodic guitar licks in with the evident heaviness is the ingredient making up a band with a really good sound. If ever I had to choose a band to be in this one would spring to mind as they seem a fun bunch of people that make up the unit.

ELEMENTS OF REFUSAL were one of the bands that appeared on one of the first Showcase nights a long way back when a different promoter was running them. Now with two different band members a new girl on drums and the bassist from Abadden (as seen in this months Metalhammer). They are certainly a tight act. Well practiced, always up for gigging and energetic, putting everything in to every performance. Quality scream growling that would strain an everyday person is done with no trouble from this Luton 4 piece. Their professional sounding full energy sound well matches their busy stage movements and persona.
