Wolfnote.

Dannys Bar Lev 1 Esquires Bedford. Friday 27th November 2015.

To compliment the array of homegrown Bedfordshire bands on the regular Friday Evening slots, we normally get to see them travelling in from variously Buckinghamshire, Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire or Northamptonshire, however tonight; we are most privileged to receive a visit from WOLFNOTE. Do not be surprised local music fans if you have not heard of them, because they live in Redruth, which is on the western tip of Cornwall, last night they were playing at The Junction in Plymouth, Tomorrow they are headlining at The Underbelly in London’s Hoxton area.
Wolfnote are two piece guitar and drums exponents and go by the names of Danny and Liam. Their influences range from Kyus to Fu Manchu. This particular Bedford show has been principally arranged by their close Cornish mates The Smoking Durrys regular Esquires attendees may well remember that The Durrys also introduced the Falmouth band Tinned Fruit to us earlier this year in a different way Wolf Note make just the same glorious, raucous racket.
With regular contact to some friends in that lonely south west county. I am well aware of the burgeoning and flourishing Falmouth sound and the vast array of new, young, exciting bands sprouting forth from Cornwall. Indeed as a sometime visitor to The Studio Bar in Penzance. I am more than happy to learn that this small club is one their favourite local venues to regularly perform in. although they only played their first live show just over a year ago at the Leopallooza Festival, they have already appeared at Brighton’s Great Escape. Gig supports are packing up as well as they namedrop Pulled Apart By Horses, The Darkness and Reef. With two piece, hard as granite rockers, very much in vogue, Wolf Note entertain and energise me throughout. The fellas have been gigging extensively as part of their Duck Dive tour. It is also the name of their current downloadable single. After their truly punishing and ultra pummelling performance, Danny and Liam offer support to the other band appearing tonight, namely Them nerves. They then hang around to pretty much the early hours of Saturday morning. They complimented and praised Esquires, they enjoyed that we had not seen the last of them and that Wolf Note will return to Bedford in the near future please?!

Wolf Note kindly gave me a set list for their show and it was as follows:

1 Cold Peculiar Days. 2 Soul Skimming. 3 Easy For You. 4 Hell Yeah. 5 New Song 1 (as yet untitled). 6 Move It On. 7 Duck Dive. 8 New Song 2 (as yet untitled). 9 Hemiplegic.
