Saturday 12th January 2002, Bedford Esquires.
The imaginatively titled tribute band THE Rage against the machine came onstage to a relatively sparse and indifferent crowd. The crowd were a lot younger than a usual Saturday night lot, with several hoodies on view as would be expected. The band trundles onstage to a very quiet audience, possibly to do with the age of the crowd, but when the first song's token “heavy bit“ kicks in, the kids seem more than alright. When the big hits like Guerilla Radio or Killing in the name are blasted out, the mosh is as healthy as i've seen it at Esquires. The band are as enthusiastic as you would expect and are obviously very big fans of Rage themselves. One last point to mention- I'm pretty sure the Star-spangled banner draped across the bass amp was meant ironically though, don't you?
